BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) - Police say speed was a factor in an early morning car crash that killed two people in southwest Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the driver of a car lost control and it ended up running off the road and into a creek area. Authorities say the driver and his passenger were dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at about 5 a.m. EDT Saturday near Batavia, in Clermont County just east of Cincinnati.

The crash was still under investigation and names weren’t released immediately.
