TORONTO (AP) - The Kansas City Royals have recalled right-hander Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Omaha to start against the Blue Jays on Saturday and optioned utilityman Jimmy Paredes to Triple-A.

Brooks replaces right-hander Yordano Ventura, who left his last outing with a sore elbow. Ventura is expected to miss one start.

Brooks has made one relief appearance for the Royals this season, allowing six runs in two innings in a May 3 loss to Detroit. He was 4-1 with a 3.12 ERA in eight games at Omaha.

His opponent Saturday will be Blue Jays rookie right-hander Marcus Stroman, who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo following Friday’s game, a 6-1 Royals victory. Stroman will make his first major league start in place of right-hander Drew Hutchison, who is being pushed back to Tuesday for extra rest.
