TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - A 21-year-old man will spend at least eight years in prison for his role in the stabbing and attempted robbery of a 36-year-old man on the Northwestern Michigan College campus in Traverse City.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1oHquoj ) that Jorge-Antonio Lopez Alvarado was sentenced Friday.
He is one of three men and two women charged in the January knife and machete attack on Dwight Johnathan Thompson who was stabbed during an attempt to steal drugs. Alvarado had pleaded guilty earlier this month to assault with intent to rob while armed and unarmed robbery.
Thompson, of Indianapolis, was sentenced to up to four years in prison on a drug possession charge after authorities found crack cocaine in his pocket.
