COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Elijah Trail and Brooks Borders had RBI singles in the 12th inning and Campbell won for the first time in NCAA tournament play, beating Old Dominion 4-1 in an elimination game Saturday in the Columbia regional.

Reliever Ryan Thompson (7-2) pitched five innings of one-hit ball to keep Campbell in it.

The Camels (41-20) will face South Carolina in another elimination game Sunday. Campbell’s only other NCAA appearance was when it went 0-2 in the 1990 tournament.

Old Dominion (36-26) has lost eight straight NCAA tournament games dating to 1995.

Pitching problems doomed Old Dominion for a second straight game. Closer Brad Gero twice hit batters in the ninth inning against Maryland that let in the tying and winning runs Friday. This time, reliever Victor Diaz hit a batter to load the bases and set up the run-scoring hits by Trail and Borders.
