HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A federal judge in Hartford has sentenced an illegal dealer to 10 years in prison for trying to buy three kilograms of heroin from an undercover law enforcement officer.

Raibwar Raouf of Hartford has also been to five years of supervised release and forfeit a total of $178,000 in cash.

Federal Drug Enforcement Administration officials received information that Raouf was a significant heroin distributor in Hartford and that he was looking for a new supplier.

He met an undercover agent in the Bronx, New York, in June 2012 and arranged to buy three kilograms of heroin for $165,000. He was arrested with his girlfriend the following month while trying to buy the drugs in Stamford.

Raouf and his girlfriend pleaded guilty to attempting to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
