KATY, Texas (AP) - Fort Bend County authorities are investigating the slaying of a husband and wife at their home in a gated community in Katy.
Sheriff Troy Nehls says 54-year-old Michael Walton and his 52-year-old wife Lynda were found Thursday afternoon by one of their sons when he returned home. The couple had been fatally shot with a small-caliber weapon.
Detectives have found some evidence of a forced entry into the home but nothing has been reported missing. Walton was a developer of the neighborhood. Tax records value the home where the shooting occurred at $1.4 million.
Nehls says authorities are trying to reach another of their children, a 20-year-old son. They’re not sure if he’s in hiding or whether there’s reason to be concerned for his safety.
