PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The prosecution has wrapped up its embezzlement case against a former Rhode Island lawmaker.
Prosecutors say Leo Medina of Providence pocketed $28,000 from a life insurance policy on a friend’s daughter, who died in 2007.
The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1lWGTPc ) a member of the state police financial crimes unit testified about Medina’s bank records in an effort to show he took the money.
Medina served one term as a Democratic state representative from Providence. He lost his bid for a second term in 2012.
His trial will resume on Monday.
