LOS ANGELES (AP) - A small earthquake struck off the Southern California coast, but no damages or injuries have been reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says in a preliminary report that the magnitude-3.8 earthquake struck Friday night at about 8 p.m. about 10 miles south of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and about 30 miles south of downtown LA.

City and county police and fire departments said there were no reports of damages or injuries because of the quake.

More than 500 people reported having felt the earthquake on the U.S.G.S. website.
