LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police hunting for a suicidal and potentially armed man have found him after a search that shut down a college.

Police say the 19-year-old Van Nuys man was found early Friday afternoon at a bowling alley near Pierce College in Woodland Hills. He had no gun and was taken to a hospital for mental evaluation. His name wasn’t released.

The man was registered at Pierce but not enrolled. The Los Angeles Daily News (https://bit.ly/1mT2fAq ) says his mother discovered a suicide note and told authorities he might be on campus.

Pierce was evacuated and closed, 100 children and dozens of parents were kept inside its Child Development Center and the nearby West Valley Occupational Center was locked down for hours.

However, police say the man was never on campus.
