BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have identified the father-son duo accused of stealing metal components from urinals and toilets in restrooms of Birmingham-area restaurants.
Police said in a statement Friday that 44-year-old Jeffrey Barker and 26-year-old Joseph Barker are each charged with possession of burglar tools and giving false information while selling the metal at local scrapyards.
Birmingham police have said metal toilet and urinal components were reported stolen from at least six Birmingham-area restaurants. Jefferson County sheriff’s officials have said the pieces weren’t made of copper and would have been of little value if they were sold for scrap metal.
The Barkers are being held on $15,000 bond each and are being transferred to the Jefferson County jail. It’s unclear if the two have attorneys and officials say more charges could be filed.
