TUCKER, Ga. (AP) - The DeKalb County police department is welcoming more than 20 new officers to the force.

Department spokeswoman Mekka Parish says 23 new officers will receive their badges and take their oath Friday morning during a graduation ceremony at the department’s headquarters in Tucker.

Officials say the new officers have gone through 26 weeks of training at the police academy, and will complete an additional eight to 12 weeks of training in the field.
