MILWAUKEE (AP) - Two Harley-Davidson employees and a candidate they were interviewing for a job dropped to the floor and crawled out of a conference room after a bullet shattered a window at the company’s Milwaukee headquarters, according to a criminal complaint.
The bullet was one of 10 to 15 fired from a semi-automatic handgun in the street outside Harley-Davidson May 22 by Thomas Dright-Jackson who was shooting at his ex-girlfriend, the complaint said.
The woman jumped into an SUV and heard bullets striking the vehicle as it sped away. A detective later determined the vehicle had been struck four times, according to the Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1hiNCHB ).
Meanwhile, one of the Harley-Davidson employees heard a succession of popping sounds that sounded like fireworks. But when the window shattered, he and the other two people in the conference room dropped to the floor and had to “Army-crawl” out of the room.
The employee then notified others and the building was temporarily locked down, according to the complaint.
Dright-Jackson is charged with first-degree reckless endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon, and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, discharge firearm into vehicle. Dright-Jackson said he was at home with his mother the day of the shooting and has denied involvement.
