BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A dispute over a taxi fare apparently led to a police shooting and standoff in Boulder.

Police tried to resolve the fare dispute at around 1 a.m. Friday, but then a man involved suddenly ran away and into an apartment building on University Hill as officers chased him. According to a statement from the city, the suspect pointed a gun at officers leading at least three officers to fire.

Police later discovered that the suspect had pointed a pellet gun at officers. The man was identified as 23-year-old Colin Stewart, a non-degree seeking student at the University of Colorado. His injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The suspect barricaded himself in the apartment building for about 2 ½ hours before members of the SWAT team were able to arrest him.
