BOSTON (AP) - The Boston day care center caring for a 2-year-old boy who apparently fell four stories fell to his death has been cited for a series of violations in the past.
According to Department of Early Education records, the center in an apartment building in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood had been cited for overcrowding, unsafe sleeping practices and poor hygiene.
The state had also investigated the center’s operator for allegations of abuse, but the accusations were found to be unsubstantiated.
The woman who ran the day care has been licensed by the state since 2006, but on Thursday surrendered that license.
Police say the boy, identified by family as Daylan Walker, apparently made his way from the ground floor day care center to the roof before falling to his death Wednesday.
