CLEVELAND (AP) - Authorities in Cleveland are still searching for a woman who abandoned a 1-year-old boy and 3-week-old girl at a Salvation Army homeless shelter this week.

Police say the woman went to the shelter around 2 a.m. Monday with the children and asked for a room for the night. The next morning, the woman was gone, and the two children were left behind.

The children, who haven’t been identified yet, were taken to a hospital for evaluation and released to child welfare workers.

It’s not clear if the woman will face charges when she’s found.

Ohio’s Safe Havens for Newborns law allows mother to drop off infants at hospitals, fire departments and other emergency locations.

Since 2009, 29 babies have been left under the law.
