CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Cedar Rapids police and fire officials are warning people to stay out of the Cedar River after receiving a high number of reports recently of people jumping into or swimming in it.
Police say swimming in the Cedar River is currently prohibited in Cedar Rapids. Swimming in a river or lake with unknown depths, swiftly moving water and debris is a risk to swimmers. Officials also say the river’s water is too cold for swimmers, posing a risk of shock and hypothermia.
Police say there have been no serious injuries or accidents in the river so far this spring.
