PITTSBURGH (AP) - A judge says a former armored car guard who was convicted of murdering his partner to steal $2.3 million from their truck won’t get a new trial.

Judge David R. Cashman issued the ruling Friday. He had previously sentenced 24-year-old Ken Konias Jr. to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the February 2012 crime. Konias used the money to flee Pittsburgh and entertain strippers and prostitutes before he was found hiding in Florida two months later.

Konias requested a new trial and claimed there wasn’t enough evidence to support his conviction.

Prosecutors say Konias shot Garda Cash Logistics guard Michael Haines execution-style, from about 6 inches behind the head, and the interior of the truck and Haines’ clothes showed no signs of a violent struggle.
