NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans is seeking to raise $25 million to renovate its seminaries, where priests are trained.

Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans services 100 students from 14 Catholic dioceses.

Officials tell WWL-TV (https://bit.ly/1ujd0zM) that the project will provide 40 student rooms, plus install central air conditioning and fix plumbing leaks.

The fund drive will also benefit St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana.

The Archdiocese of New Orleans says it has 36 seminarians, with five ordained as priests last year and four set to be ordained this year. That’s a rebound from a low of 18 seminarians and one new priest in 2007.
