FARMINGTON, Maine (AP) - An attorney who represented high-profile defendants in Maine has pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic violence terrorizing under a plea deal.
The Sun Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1jqkqwm ) that 54-year-old Ronald E. Hoffman of Sumner was arrested in February after he told two people at court that he intended to kill a family member. He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Friday.
Hoffman resigned last month, two years after being charged with making bomb threats against two Wilton schools.
He was given a suspended sentence after making bomb threats in March 2012 against Cushing School and Academy Hill School, forcing the evacuation of 360 students.
Hoffman’s clients have included quadruple murderer Christian Nielsen of Newry in 2007 and Richard Moulton Jr., who pleaded guilty last year to two murders.
