CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Four candidates vying for the open Wyoming Secretary of State seat asked delegates at the state Republican Party convention in Evanston Saturday for their support.

Incumbent Secretary of State Max Maxfield recently announced he would not seek re-election. He recently won a legal challenge at the Wyoming Supreme Court that overturning a state law that had barred incumbents in his office from seeking a third term.

The following candidates each told delegates they would be the best choice to succeed Maxfield:

- Ed Murray, a Cheyenne businessman.

- Ed Buchanan of Torrington, a lawyer and former speaker in the Wyoming House.

- Pete Illoway of Cheyenne, a businessman and former legislator.

- Clark Stith, a Rock Springs lawyer and former Sweetwater County Republican chairman.
