JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage Republican Rep. Lindsey Holmes says she does not plan to seek re-election.

Holmes told APRN (https://bit.ly/1rPmuii ) she came home after eight years, and wanted to be home more.

Holmes became the target of a recall effort after switching her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican following the 2012 election. An Anchorage Superior Court judge upheld a ruling by the Division of Elections that there were insufficient grounds for a recall, the same day as Holmes confirmed her plans to not run again.

Holmes said she’s happy with the work she did with the House’s Republican-led majority.

She said she plans to help Anchorage Republican Rep. Mia Costello in her run for state Senate and would like to get involved with the campaign to defeat the oil tax referendum.
