FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Fargo police say they issued 31 citations in a districted driving campaign that was conducted on three separate days in April.

Police handed out 18 citations for distracted driving and one for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fargo Police Sgt. James Kringlie says distracted driving, mostly the result of texting, is the leading contributor to rear-end crashes in the city.

The fine for texting and driving in North Dakota is $100.
