SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois business and civic leader has been appointed to the board of directors for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation.

Smita Shah (SMEE’-tuh SHAW’) is founder and CEO of SPAAN Tech Inc. It is an engineering and construction management firm based in Chicago.

Shah is vice chairman of the Chicago Plan Commission and serves on philanthropic boards for Loyola University, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Museum of Science and Industry President’s Council.

Shah earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s degree from MIT.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation supports the educational and cultural programming of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield. It also fosters Lincoln scholarship through the acquisition and publication of documentary materials.
