ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - An Anchorage man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a 2012 car crash that injured five people, including one woman left blind in one eye, deaf in one ear and partially paralyzed.

Kevin Wright was driving a stolen vehicle on icy roads when Anchorage police tried to pull him over. He had four passengers in the car and refused, instead speeding through an intersection and T-boning a car being driven by a mother of two children.

Prosecutors say the woman told Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton she suffered a traumatic brain injury, with one side of her face paralyzed.

The judge sentenced Wright to eight years for first-degree assault and one more for failing to stop. Wright faced up to 13 years in prison.
