INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police in Indianapolis say two officers were injured in a hit-and-run crash caused by a suspected drunken driver.

Police spokesman Officer Chris Wilburn says the accident occurred about 12:40 a.m. Saturday on the city’s Near Eastside while the officers were responding to a call. Media reports said one police car was turning onto a city street when it was struck by a vehicle, and the first police car then hit the other police car that was parked.

Wilburn says the officers are hospitalized in stable condition.

Wilburn says police arrested 28-year-old Indianapolis man on preliminary charges, including failure to stop at an accident causing serious bodily injury and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
