TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A teen is dead following a run-in with Tallahassee police.

Authorities say officers were performing a traffic stop early Thursday morning when they heard shots being fired nearby. The officers ran to the parking lot of Cheeks Sports Bar and Lounge, where they found 18-year-old Duane Erick Strong sitting inside a Dodge Charger.

Police say the officers tried to approach Strong’s car, but he immediately sped away, hitting a parked car and nearly hitting an officer. That’s when officers opened fire on the Charger. Strong made it to the main road, where a marked patrol car crashed into him.

Strong was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. It wasn’t immediately clear if Strong was hit by a bullet or killed in the crash.

The Tallahassee Democrat (https://goo.gl/Ff3b83 ) reports that the three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
