ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York state wants to help returning service members get jobs in the energy industry.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that five electric and natural gas companies are working with the state to design programs to provide workforce training for veterans interested in working for a utility.
The utilities will work with colleges to create the program. The state’s Division of Veteran’s Affairs will coordinate outreach efforts to veterans.
Cuomo says the program can help returning military service members adjust to civilian life while giving them valuable career skills.
