HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man accused of killing his estranged wife and kidnapping their sons has pleaded not guilty.

John Jordan was in Bergen County Superior Court on Thursday, where he denied murdering 39-year-old Tracey Jordan and then kidnapping their two sons.

The 47-year-old Jordan was arrested in South Carolina on May 10, more than seven hours after his estranged wife was found stabbed to death in her Lodi apartment.

Their sons, 8-year-old Nicholas and 7-year-old Anthony, were found with Jordan in South Carolina, and were unharmed. They are reportedly living with the deceased woman’s sister. Several members of Tracey Jordan’s family attended Thursday’s court hearing in Hackensack.

John Jordan remains in custody on $3 million bail. The case will now go to a grand jury.
