REDMOND, Ore. (AP) - Police in Redmond, Oregon, say a report of a man lying in the grass and pointing a rifle at a school turned out to be a man with a pellet gun who told officers he was shooting at a type of marmot or ground squirrel.

KTVZ-TV reports (https://is.gd/h5vSRX ) that Sgt. Hank Majetich says the pellet gun did look like “an actual assault-type rifle with a scope.”

The sergeant says no one was hurt late Wednesday afternoon and no children were present at Obsidian Middle School.

Police say a 43-year-old Redmond man was arrested for investigation of reckless endangering and second-degree disorderly conduct.
