DETROIT (AP) - A 19-year-old man has appeared in court in Detroit on accusations that he wounded his mother and fatally shot the Air Force officer she was engaged to marry.

The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says that Antonio J. Hicks was arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and having a firearm during a felony.

Hicks faces a probable cause hearing June 10. It isn’t known if he has a lawyer.

Authorities say Hicks shot 41-year-old staff Sgt. Johnny Clyburn and 40-year-old Nicolina Pace on Tuesday in their home in Detroit. They say Pace called 911, and police arrested Hicks about three miles away.

Clyburn was a 21-year Air Force veteran and a member of the 127th Security Forces Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
