TYLER, Texas (AP) - East Texas authorities have identified remains of a North Texas man found on a county road in a burning carpet roll and believe it’s connected to a partial body recovered from a Louisiana lake.

The Smith County sheriff’s office in Tyler says remains of 53-year-old Marvin Lee Brown, of Parker County, just west of Fort Worth, have been identified through fingerprint records. The remains were discovered last week. A vehicle tied to the case was found hours later.

Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith says detectives learned of a body in a lake off Interstate 20 near Shreveport, Louisiana, that initially was considered injured by a boat propeller. The Tyler Morning Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1oO2PzS ) reports Smith wouldn’t disclose the nature of the body parts except to say Brown had suffered head trauma.
