Can’t make this stuff up: Edward Snowden, in hiding, likes to watch ‘The Wire’

NSA leaker Edward Snowden said he is “trapped” in a country that is not his own, but he’s found some comfort in a show about — what else — surveillance.

Mr. Snowden told NBC’s Brian Williams that he’s been watching HBO’s “The Wire,” a well-reviewed fictional series about crime and urban life in Baltimore that aired from 2002 to 2008.

“I’m really enjoying it. Second season’s not so great but, uh, it’s nice,” said Mr. Snowden, a former National Security Agency contractor.

Mr. Snowden, who leaked information about the U.S. government spying programs, said he faced a “major cultural gap” when he fled to Moscow.

“I can adapt, I can live life as an American, more or less,” he told NBC. “That’s the beauty of the Internet. We’re no longer tied to our communities merely by physical connections.”
