SARATOGA, Wyo. (AP) - Crews continue to stack sandbags to protect the town of Saratoga from the rising North Platte River.
Gov. Matt Mead announced Wednesday that he was sending more members of the Wyoming National Guard teams to Carbon County, bringing the total to 150 guard personnel. Other crews are monitoring conditions around the state.
Mead says the flood conditions on the North Platte create a tense time for Saratoga residents and other Wyoming communities. He says government workers and volunteers are working hard to protect people and homes.
Saratoga Mayor John Zeiger also serves as Carbon County’s emergency management coordinator. He says things were looking better in the town on Wednesday evening. He says there are still a few critical areas where crews continue to stack sandbags.
