SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old man involved in a rollover crash in Springfield was taken to the hospital by a friend where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the victim’s SUV rolled over and hit a light pole at about midnight Wednesday, but no one was at the crash site when police arrived at the scene.

It turns out that the victim, Dwayne Borbua of Springfield, had been taken to Baystate Medical Center by a friend who was following in another vehicle and came upon the crash, but told police he did not witness it.

Borbua was pronounced dead just after midnight Wednesday.

Police say illegal drugs were found at the crash site.

The death remains under investigation.
