WINDHAM, Vt. (AP) - A developer says it may take two to three years to collect enough data from several wind test towers to determine the future of a commercial project in Vermont.
The towers were built by Spanish Energy conglomerate Iberdrola Renewables, which just decided to abandon a proposal for a 23-turbine wind farm in central New Hampshire. Developers there cited an unfavorable political and regulatory climate in the state.
Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/TTnqbO) the towers in the Vermont towns of Windham and Grafton were put up last spring. The developer, Meadowsend Timberland Limited of New London, New Hampshire, owns most of the land where Sheffield Wind was built in 2011.
Meadowsend co-owner Jamey French told residents it will likely take two or three years to make a final decision.
