PHOENIX (AP) - A man armed with a saw and screwdrivers who was shot and wounded by Phoenix police remains hospitalized.
Police said Wednesday the name of the 26-year-old man will be released once he’s booked into jail.
They say he’s facing felony and misdemeanor charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest and criminal charges.
Police say the man was acting violently and erratically at a medical office building Tuesday afternoon and was throwing chairs and removing his clothing.
The man eventually left the building with the screwdrivers and saw and was confronted by two police officers.
Police say he ignored demands to drop the objects and stun guns had no effect on him.
They say the man ran toward officers with screwdrivers raised in both hands and was shot once in the chest.
