FULTON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities are waiting on a toxicology report before presenting potential charges to an Itawamba County grand jury in the death of wildlife officer John Collum.

Sheriff Chris Dickinson tells the Itawamba County Times (https://bit.ly/1kKRBvg ) the blood samples are being analyzed at a laboratory in Pennsylvania.

Authorities have charged 19-year-old Cody Weaver with negligent homicide in the May 9 death of Collum.

There is no set timeframe for the results of the tests.

Weaver is currently out of jail on a $200,000 bond.

Dickinson says Collum was struck from behind by a vehicle while conducting an on-foot investigation into a report of a prowler near Fulton. Collum was pronounced dead at the scene.

Collum was a 15-year veteran of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
