SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - The former director of the Nicholas County Office of Emergency Services has been charged with using a county credit card for her own use.

State police say 42-year-old Carla Hennessey of Craigsville was charged Monday with one count of fraudulent schemes. She was arraigned in Nicholas County Magistrate Court and released on bond.

Court records didn’t list an attorney for Hennessey.

State police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous says in a statement that the amount involved was $1,735. It didn’t specify the items allegedly purchased.

In 2008, Nicholas County Emergency Services Director Alfonso DeRito Jr. resigned and was sentenced the following year to probation and community service after being charged with misspending more than $500 in county money.
