ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - An Alexandria sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an inmate at a jail in Alexandria.
The City of Alexandria says 52-year-old Bryant Pegues of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was arrested Tuesday after an inmate accused him of sexually assaulting her. The inmate at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center told authorities the assault happened Tuesday morning. Pegues, who was hired in 2007, was charged with rape and carnal knowledge of an inmate.
He has been fired from the Sheriff’s Office.
A listed telephone number for Pegues rang unanswered Wednesday.
