LAS VEGAS (AP) - Another downtown Las Vegas casino-hotel has reached a contract deal with culinary and bartender union members ahead of a threatened strike this weekend.
Culinary Union Local 226 announced early Wednesday the pact with owners of the El Cortez is similar to agreements with the Golden Nugget, Fremont Hotel & Casino and Main Street Station.
Talks are continuing with most of the six remaining casinos where contracts expired last June 1.
If agreements aren’t reached, restaurant, hotel and bar workers at The D, Four Queens, Binion’s, Plaza, Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate plan to walk off the job at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The last strike in Las Vegas was at the Golden Gate in 2002.
A 1991 strike of the Frontier on the Strip lasted more than six years.
