A marketing company surveyed thousands of Americans across the country to find out where they ate, when they ate out and found: Politics has a hand in the decision-making process.

Conservatives by and large go for the red meat, Experion Marketing Services found, the Wall Street Journal reported. As such, they prefer places like the pub-like O’Charley’s, as well as Cracker Barrel and Longhorn’s steakhouse.

Liberals, on the other hand, like ethnic fare and choose spots that offer Mexican-, Italian- and Asian-specific menus, the Daily Mail reported. Liberals also really loved the sub sandwich chain Blimpie’s.

Partisanship guided what groceries were selected for shopping, also, the study found.

Conservatives in the South favored Randalls. Weis, Piggly Wiggly, Brookshire’s and Foodtown. Liberals living in metropolitan areas chose Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s; they also selected nationwide Safeway.

Meanwhile, the most conservative fast-food fare, it seems: Krystal, Whataburger, Chick-fil-A and Steak ’n’ Shake, among the list. And likewise, for liberals: Au bon pain, Chipotle and Starbucks.
