EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State University is getting more than $2.7 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help to increase food security and improve food production.
The funding announced recently by the East Lansing school will allow the university to help boost agricultural productivity as well as increase the availability and accessibility of safe and nutritious food.
Projects include an effort to reduce dairy production losses, curb the impact of bovine leukemia virus and improve conditions for swine.
The grants are through the USDA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative and administered through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
