PARIS (AP) - Stan Wawrinka lost his first Grand Slam match since becoming a major champion, falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 to 41st-ranked Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain in the first round of the French Open on Monday.
The Australian Open champion had 61 unforced errors on center court and won only 54 percent of the points on his first serve.
Earlier, Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova successfully dealt with the wet weather and their opponents.
Djokovic beat Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 despite being broken three times, including while serving for the match for the first time.
Sharapova, the 2012 champion, was first on court in the main stadium and needed little more than an hour to beat Ksenia Pervak 6-1, 6-2
Eight-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal improved his record at Roland Garros to 60-1 by beating Robby Ginepri of the United States 6-0, 6-3, 6-0.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Thunder forward Serge Ibaka said his strained left calf is fine and he expects to play Tuesday in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.
Ibaka came back from what was thought to be a season-ending injury to play 30 minutes in Game 3 against San Antonio. He had 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks to spark Oklahoma City to a 106-97 victory over the Spurs that trimmed its deficit to 2-1.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis went on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle a day after getting hurt while celebrating Josh Beckett’s no-hitter.
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Mets fired hitting coach Dave Hudgens and cut reliever Jose Valverde after a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Minor league hitting coordinator Lamar Johnson will take over for Hudgens.
The 57-year-old Hudgens was in his fourth season as the Mets’ hitting coach. The Mets began the day with a .237 batting average, ranking among the worst in the majors.
New York has lost nine of its last 12 games, scoring just 32 runs in that span.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Royals rookie right-hander Yordano Ventura left Kansas City’s game against the Houston Astros with elbow discomfort.
Ventura departed after Jose Altuve fouled off a pitch with two outs in the third inning.
Ventura will have an MRI exam Tuesday.

PRO HOCKEY
The Washington Capitals hired former Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz and promoted Brian MacLellan to general manager.
Trotz was the Predators’ coach for 15 seasons before being let go in April. In Washington, he takes over for Adam Oates, who was fired last month after the Capitals missed the playoffs for the first time in seven years.
MacLellan replaces George McPhee, whose contract was not renewed after 17 seasons with the Capitals.

AUTO RACING
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Ryan Hunter-Reay’s Indianapolis 500 win earned him a $2.49 million payday.
Hunter-Reay edged Helio Castroneves by 0.060 seconds Sunday in the second-closest margin of victory in the history of the race. He became the first American to win the Indy 500 since Sam Hornish Jr. in 2006.
Castroneves earned more than $785,000.

COLLEGE SPORTS
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Oregon State is the No. 1 national seed for the NCAA baseball tournament.
The Division I Baseball Committee made the Pac-12 champion Beavers (42-12) the top seed over SEC regular-season winner Florida (40-21).
The other six national seeds, in order, are: Virginia, Indiana, Florida State, Louisiana-Lafayette, TCU and LSU.
The tournament opens Friday with 16 four-team, double-elimination regionals. Best-of-three super regionals will be held next week, with those winners moving to the College World Series in Omaha.
BALTIMORE (AP) - Duke won its second straight NCAA men’s lacrosse championship, holding off Notre Dame’s comeback on a goal by Kyle Keenan with 2:39 left to clinch an 11-9 victory.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - Stanford’s Cameron Wilson won the NCAA golf title when he birdied the third hole of a playoff against Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans, helping Stanford lead team qualifying at 13 under.
Stanford secured the top seed for Tuesday morning’s match-play quarterfinals.
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Marcos Giron of UCLA beat Pepperdine’s Alex Sarkissian 6-4, 6-1 to win the Bruins’ 11th men’s national singles title.
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Danielle Collins of Virginia beat California’s Lynn Chi 6-2, 7-5 to become the Cavaliers’ first women’s national singles champion.
Collins, Virginia’s first woman to advance as far as the national quarterfinals, won 11 straight points in the second set to rally from a 3-5 deficit.

HORSE RACING
NEW YORK (AP) - Todd Pletcher became thoroughbred racing’s leading money winning trainer when Jack Milton rallied from last to win the $300,000 Poker Stakes at Belmont Park.
Pletcher’s runners have won $268,502,284. He moved past D. Wayne Lukas, Pletcher’s former mentor, who is second with $268,467,262.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Alison Powers became the first rider in eight years to sweep the U.S. cycling championships, pulling away from the field in the final stretch to win the women’s road race.
Eric Marcotte held off teammate Travis McCabe to become the surprise men’s champion. Alex Howes finished third in a race that was marked by a serious crash involving time trial champion Taylor Phinney, who was transported to a hospital with a fractured bone in his leg.
