Vice President Joseph R. Biden — who was once caught slinging the f-word during a lean-in comment to the president about Obamacare — now has some words of wisdom that seem to show he learned his lesson: Always consider the microphones on.
He offered the words of advice during the kickoff event for the Ride 2 Recovery Memorial Challenge, The Blaze reported. He alluded to his previous misstep, in which a watching press corp and television audience witnessed him refer to the passage of Obamacare a “big [expletive] deal.”
He then said to the gathered crowd: “Piece of advice about that BFD stuff. Assume every microphone is on,” CNN reported.
Mr. Biden also clarified that he didn’t say the phrase on purpose.
“I just want you to know, I didn’t intentionally say that,” he said, The Blaze reported. “I actually turned and said, ’Mr. President,’ and I whispered in his ear. Unfortunately, I was looking in the direction of the one guy who could actually read lips — not a joke. Because no one picked it up at the time and one of the reporters read lips. Thank God my mother was gone, or I’d have been one dead vice president.”
