Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley spent part of his Memorial Day on Monday pickin’ and pluckin’ his trusty banjo on the streets of Annapolis.
A photo of the Democrat governor wearing a Baltimore Ravens T-shirt, cargo shorts and flip-flops was first posted by the Twitter account for the blog “Eye on Annapolis,” a local CBS affiliate reported.
The photo shows Mr. O’Malley kneeling alone in a public square, while playing his six-string banjo. His banjo case is wide open in the background, presumably asking for tips.
The governor’s Twitter account later posted the same photo, saying, “I love that as governor of MD I can still play street music in Annapolis.”
Mr. O’Malley, who is not on the ballot this year, has been the frontman of Celtic rock band O’Malley’s March since 1988. He sings and plays guitar, banjo and tin whistle, CBS reported.
His band still plays several concerts a year.
