HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Four barracks under construction at Camp Shelby will be named for National Guard soldiers who were killed in action in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
The buildings are part of a $41.4 million Operational Readiness Training Complex.
Each of the barracks can house 336 service members.
Maj. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, Mississippi’s adjutant general, made the announcement this past week.
The soldiers being honored are Sgt. Audrey D. Lunsford of Sardis, Mississippi; Sgt. First Class Christopher Robinson of Brandon, Mississippi;, Sgt. Joseph A. “Drew” Rahaim of Laurel, Mississippi; and Maj. Lowell T. Miller II, of Flint Township, Michigan. Lunsford, Rahaim and Miller were killed in Iraq, while Robinson was killed in Afghanistan.
The complex is scheduled for completion in late summer.
