YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Yuma man may have been driving impaired when his car collided with another vehicle, killing a San Luis couple.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say 61-year-old Roberto Rodriguez and 56-year-old Sylvia Rodriguez both died in Sunday morning’s crash at the intersection of U.S. 95 and Avenue 7E in Yuma.
The driver of the other vehicle was a 42-year-old Yuma man who was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
DPS officials say the man’s name isn’t being released because he’s a homicide suspect. He hasn’t been charged or booked into jail though.
They say the man may have been driving under the impairment of drugs and speeding at the time of the 6 a.m. collision.
