PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - The body of a 4-year-old boy who fell off his grandfather’s boat in Pensacola Bay has been recovered.
A fisherman spotted Logan Torrance Fontana’s body floating in the bay on Monday afternoon. The fisherman alerted authorities who pulled the child from the water.
Officials say the child wasn’t wearing a lifejacket when he fell Saturday afternoon from the 20-foot Chapparal boat owned by George “Steve” Maye.
The Pensacola News Journal (https://on.pnj.com/1we1SFq ) reports the boy and his grandfather has spent the day fishing and playing on the beach. They removed his life jacket to wash off the sand and Maye told the child to put it back on. When he turned around, the boy was missing and the life jacket was on the floor of the boat.
