CARDIFF, Wales (AP) - Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has withdrawn from the Wales squad for next week’s friendly against the Netherlands.
Bale, who scored in extra time for Real in Saturday’s 4-1 win against Atletico Madrid as the Spanish giants claimed a 10th European Cup, is suffering from a leg muscle injury.
The Wales federation said in a statement that Bale has been hampered by the problem “for a few weeks” and that he will be replaced in the squad by Fulham’s George Williams.
Bale will not feature at the World Cup in Brazil next month after Wales failed to qualify.
