George Norcross and Lewis Katz are scheduled to go head to head Tuesday for control of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com website. Bidding in the closed-door auction starts at $77 million as the feuding owners vie to buy out each other.

The Laborers District Council of Western Pennsylvania endorsed Corbett last week. What remains to be seen is whether Corbett can court broader support among unions.
JURY SELECTION SET FOR TRIO ACCUSED IN FATAL MUGGING OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER
Jury selection begins Tuesday in Washington County. The jurors will hear opening statements Monday in the homicide trial stemming from the death of 21-year-old Timothy McNerney. Police say the Washington & Jefferson College student and football player was walking back to campus with a teammate from a local tavern in October 2012 when the two were attacked by three men.
AUTHORITIES SAY FIGHT OVER PLATE OF FOOD LED TO FATAL SHOOTING
State police in Indiana County say 59-year-old James Buterbaugh got into an argument Sunday evening at the house of 51-year-old David Ackerson. Police say the men were drinking before Ackerson brought out two plates of food that the Buterbaugh’s mother had given him. That apparently made Buterbaugh mad enough to shoot Ackerson, whom he accused of “mooching,” police said.
PHILADELPHIA POLICE WOUND ARMED MAN IN MEMORIAL DAY CONFRONTATION
Police say they were called to West Philadelphia after someone reported seeing a man with a gun at about 5:20 p.m. Monday. Police allege that the man pointed the weapon at the responding officers, who fired, striking him in the arm and leg. The suspect is listed in critical condition.
